who’s next?

Quote, that is.  Not the beer.  Well, actually, I could use the beer, too (or some other, stronger alcoholic imbibement), to welcome the new world order.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Bailout? Sellout.

September 29, 2008

The bailout has failed to pass the house, and I cheer.

We are headed for a financial collapse, surely. In fact, we’re long overdue. But attempting to ease the pain of that collapse by destroying the fundamental nature of our government and economic system is not the answer.

It is not our once booming economy that makes this country great, it is this great country that makes the economy boom. Freedom and free markets. These are the tools we will need to rebuild our economic stature. They are precious and vital, and sacrificing them now for our short-term comfort only robs us of our future.
